Genetics & Years of Selection

Lime Zoda is the result of an exceptionally extensive breeding project. Its development stretches back several years and is based on numerous selections, reversals and large-scale phenotype hunts.

The Tropical Limez side of the project began around six years earlier with Pink Limez, a cross of Lemon Tree × Runtz. A selected Pink Limez keeper was later combined with a selected and reversed Zkittlez × Shoreline keeper to create Tropical Limez.

During extensive selections across more than one hundred different varieties and over 2,500 seeds, Tropical Limez produced some of the wildest phenotypes found throughout the entire program. Its standout characteristics included extremely loud tropical citrus terpenes, heavy Lime Candy notes and exceptional aromatic depth.

The Peach Guava side has an equally complex breeding history. A Pink Limez keeper was first pollinated with a special reversed Taco Colada phenotype, creating Peach Limeade. A selected keeper from this line was then pollinated with a reversed Key Lime Guava keeper derived from Rainbow Guava × TMZ.

From this progeny, an exceptional Peach Guava female was selected and reversed. This selection was finally used to pollinate the Tropical Limez keeper, creating Lime Zoda.

Every generation was bred and selected in-house. Every keeper had to prove its value before earning a place in the final breeding project.

Structure & Growth

Lime Zoda develops vigorous hybrid plants with a productive structure and a flowering period of approximately 60 days.

The cultivar has been selected over several generations with a strong focus on quality and terpene expression. The main goal was to combine the extreme Lime Candy character of Tropical Limez with the deeper exotic fruit profile of Peach Guava.

Depending on the phenotype, different areas of the complex terpene spectrum may become more dominant. Some plants lean heavily toward intense lime and tropical citrus, while others express more of the sweet, tropical and exotic fruit character inherited from Peach Guava.
